Luxembourg City

If you love visiting fortifications then Luxembourg ranks up
there with the best of them. Known as the "Gibraltar of
the North" this city of about 100,000 inhabitants has centuries
old bastions, steep ring walls, ramparts and tower-gates still
standing guard. Heck, with over 250 financial institutions having
a presence here the city can use the extra protection. It's a
pretty compact place thanks to bridges spanning the deep gorges
that cut through the city. Though Luxembourgish is the official
language, French, German and thankfully English are widely employed.
