Buhrmann N.V.

Across the street from Memorex stand two reflective glass towers about 12-stories tall. One has the name "Buhrmann" in big letters atop the side. Yep, that's who I'm looking for. With revenues of almost 12 billion Dutch Guilders and 14,600 employees, Buhrmann distributes office products along with information & graphic systems. Unfortunately they don't distribute good vibes. One has to first be buzzed into the building and then contend with a receptionist who acts annoyed that you're asking her for assistance. She quickly dismisses me by saying no one is around today because they're announcing half-year results. I note the glass display case in the lobby filled with old company ledger books which, evidently is suppose to let visitors know that they've been around for a while.
