LGT Group
Built in 1967, the four-story headquarters of LGT Group ($28
billion in assets under management) sits on the main route through
downtown Vaduz. With a population of 5,200, Vaduz is the capital
and second largest city in Liechtenstein, narrowly losing out
the title of biggest city to nearby Schaan, which claims 5,300
inhabitants.
I don't receive much of a reception here as Siegfried Tuertscher,
Group Communications, says they hadn't receive my letter of introduction
sent a month earlier to CEO Heinz Nipp. Tuertscher and I sit
down in the small reception area where he spends a few minutes
answering questions. My tour of the facility is limited to the
reception area. My request to see CEO Nipp's office and the boardroom
is declined.
Over 350 employees work here. There's no cafeteria, no smoking
in offices and it's 70 miles to Zurich Airport. Who's Chairman
of the Board of Director's? It's none other than H.S.H. Prince
Philipp von und zu Liechtenstein, brother of the Prince of Liechtenstein.
The bank is 100% owned by the Liechtenstein Princely Family.
