Verbier

I'd place Verbier with St. Moritz, Gstaad and Crans-Montana on a list of Switzerland's most upscale ski resorts. The panoramic views from Verbier are outstanding. These pictures of the main shopping street were taken on a Sunday morning (hence the lack of activity). Everything here is built on steep hillsides. Many new chalets have recently been built but, you wouldn't know they were new thanks to the excellent job of giving these places a rustic, used exterior. Verbier is a destination favored by the British but, quite a few cars with license plates from Italy were spotted. There's a golf course but as you in the photo it winds up and around the steep hillsides--a ski lift slices through the course.
