Grindelwald

Grindelwald is awash in tourists with the Japanese and Americans
heading the pack. Cars sporting Italian, Dutch, German and especially
British license plates are in abundance. What's the lure? The
Eiger mountain, spectacular vistas
and great hiking. The shopping
area, located on the main drag through town, consists primarily
of stores hawking souvenirs
to tourists.
Is this place
hopping or is it dead in the summer?
Grindelwald
ranks as one of the busiest ski resorts visited.
Is there a lake and/or golf course in town?
Neither, but the walking, mountain biking and hiking
possibilities are excellent.
Arriving by
car the only option?
Nope,
train service will whisk you up the mountain and right smack
into the village center.
Does the place
feel claustrophobic?
No.
Lots of choices
for acccomodations (hotels/ chalets) and do I have recommendations?
There's
a wide selection of hotels to choose from. I stayed at the four
star Eiger Hotel and give it the two
thumbs-up.
Could I spend
a whole summer here or would I get bored?
With the
variety of outdoor options I could easily stay a month. |
